How do I register for a class?


Go the "Classes" page on the website. Click on the category of classes that you are interested in. Select the class and timings that work for you and follow the instructions for booking the class.




I am new to the Iyengar system. Can I register for only one class per week?


No. Currently, we require that you register for a minimum of two classes per week. This will give you a better introduction to the Iyengar system of Yoga.




Why are some classes being offered for 6 months and some only for 2 months?


The current admission cycle is from June to November. However, some classes are being offered on a trial basis for 2 months only. If you have registered for these classes, you will be informed well in time about their future timings/admission details.




How do I know if someone is a recognised Iyengar Yoga Teacher?


Only the teachers listed here are recognized and permitted to teach by the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute, Pune. For verification of teachers in Mumbai and Pune, contact info@bksiyengar.com.




I am not a resident of India. Can I register for the Online Classes?


No. Currently the classes being offered are for residents of India only. Please read the Eligibility Criteria and Disclaimer carefully.




I am a new student. What will I be taught in the Beginner Class?


Instructors in the Beginner Online classes for new students will conduct a few basic asanas. The techniques of asanas are based on the teachings of Late Shri BKS Iyengar. It is intended to develop an interest in yoga. The asanas are chosen taking into consideration all the systems of the body.




I am a new student and I wish to learn Pranayama. Why is there no Pranayama class being offered for new students?


We do not offer Pranayama sessions in isolation to new students. The practice of asanas is essential for a harmonious functioning of all the systems in the body. This in turn prepares one physically, psychologically and mentally to take to the practice of Pranayama. So, we recommend that as new students, you first attend the Beginner classes and then in due time you will be given the option to attend Pranayama classes.




I registered and paid for a class. Where is the link to the class?


The link to your class will be emailed to you from RIMYI Online 24 - 48 hours before the start of the class. Please ensure that you also check your Junk or Spam folder for the email from RIMYI Online. This link will remain the same and will be valid for the entire duration of the course.




What is the script of the invocation that we recite at the start of every class?
